Hi Risa … today was my first time visiting your site, one thing come to mind …sweet memories along with the song by Armstrong “What a Wonderful World” thank you for bringing back these memories to life. Love the food and presentation the photos making me smell and taste the ultimate Japanese cuisine, I love the yakimono the way of life this is a gorgeous site love every thing about it Tarek

Hi Risa,

I found out about your website and blog through your sister Chika, whom I used to work with. I love Japanese food and want to thank you for so much great information! I have a travel question. I will be going to Taiwan in mid-July and plan on stopping in Japan for about 6 days on the way back to the states. Since I will be by myself for the Japanese portion of the trip, and as I speak no Japanese, I was wondering if you know of any services where I can hire a tour guide. I would like to go to Kyoto, and it sounds like it would be a more difficult city to navigate than Tokyo for someone who do not speak Japanese. If you have any recommendations I would greatly appreciate it!

Hi Christine,

I can’t post the name here, but please e-mail me and I’d be happy to share it with a fellow foodie (I tried e-mailing you but it didn’t go through). Great place! We tried getting in twice during this visit: unsuccessful on a Saturday night, but on the second try (weeknight) we got in. And one of the guys behind the counter recognized us from our visit last May! The food is as good as I remember it, but we have since had some stellar kaiseki meals, so I can no longer say it wins on taste. Look forward to hearing from you!
